The construction technique used in Bidjar has never been replicated anywhere else in Iran. The loom is kept wet for the entire months-long weaving, and when the rug finally dries, the wool shrinks and the knots compress into an extraordinarily dense, rigid fabric. A Bidjar will often weigh noticeably more than another rug of the same size.
