A touch more generous than a bedside mat, rugs around 150 × 100 cm show a full medallion and border while still tucking neatly into an entry, a nursery or beside the bed.

Afghan Pashm rugs bring a long, shaggy, all-wool pile, while Afghan Biljik rugs from Andkhoy are known for wool with a natural silkiness and deep, saturated reds and blues. Vintage Persian Kerman rugs are a strong group at this size, with floral fields and central medallions, joined by Hamadan, Tabriz, Senneh and Shiraz pieces, Princess Bokharas, Afghan Chobi rugs and a handful of Transitional Oushak rugs, which, like all of ours, are woven in Afghanistan.

This size sits comfortably beside a queen bed, at the end of a hallway or in a child's room. In an entry, a low-pile Chobi or Kerman is easiest with doors, while a Pashm feels lovely underfoot wherever shoes come off.
