All-Over

With no single centre to work around, an all-over pattern lets a rug sit happily under furniture and look right from every side of the room.

Here the design repeats across the whole field: lattices, scrolling vines, palmettes and small florals in Afghan Chobi rugs and runners, Afghan Oushak, Balkh and Yekta rugs and our own Kohi designs. Maimana and Faryab kilims carry diamonds and stepped motifs from end to end. Among the vintage pieces are Persian Bakhtiari rugs with their garden panel designs, Kerman rugs and Malayer runners. Colours range from soft pastels and greys to jewel tones.

All-over designs are the practical choice for busy rooms. When a sofa or bed covers part of the rug, the pattern still reads as a whole, and it is just as good under a dining table or in an open-plan space. A busy field is kind to crumbs and footprints too.
