Geometric

Diamonds, stars and stepped lines give these rugs a strong, graphic rhythm, worked by hand so no edge is ever perfectly straight.

Afghan Maimana and Faryab kilims carry geometry flat and bold, while Afghan Pashm rugs set tribal motifs into a long, shaggy pile. Vintage Afghan Turkmen rugs repeat their guls in neat rows, and vintage Persian Qashqai, Shiraz and Hamadan rugs build diamonds and stepped medallions from the weaver's memory. Super Kazakh and Ardabil runners keep the pattern moving along their length, and our own Kohi designs, along with Yekta rugs, give geometry a quieter, contemporary feel.

Geometric rugs pair well with clean-lined furniture, mid-century pieces and plain walls. The structure of the pattern gives a room order, while the small irregularities of hand weaving keep it from feeling rigid.
