Suzani Cushions

Each suzani cushion carries a piece of hand-embroidered Uzbek needlework, so the flowers and vines on your sofa are stitched by hand, not printed.

Suzani embroidery comes from Uzbekistan, where these textiles were traditionally made in sections for dowries and household use. Floral roundels, pomegranates, vines and sun-like forms are worked by hand, and because every outline is drawn with the needle, the shapes are slightly irregular and the colour changes from one area to the next. Palettes run from soft cream, beige and grey to gentle pinks and pastels.

A pair on a sofa or armchair adds pattern without the commitment of a large rug, and a single cushion sits beautifully against linen bedding. They mix easily with kilims and plain wool rugs, and no two carry exactly the same arrangement.
