Najaf's Favourites

These are the rugs our family keeps coming back to, the pieces we stop beside on the warehouse floor and would find hardest to part with.

Vintage Persian Kerman rugs feature heavily, along with Bakhtiari, Moud, Kashan and Bidjar rugs and long Ardabil, Hamadan and Meshkin runners. Afghan Chobi and Balkh rugs bring the close, fine knotting we admire most in Afghan weaving. There are Caucasian Kazak rugs, Princess Bokhara rugs, Kurdish Herki runners, antique Turkmen Ersari rugs and silk Uzbek suzanis.

What ties them together is hard to put into a single rule. Sometimes it is colour that has mellowed beautifully, sometimes a drawing with real personality, sometimes simply wool we can't stop running our hands over. If one catches your eye, ask us about it and we'll happily share why it's here.
