About this rug
Flatwoven by Hand in Afghanistan
Faryab kilims come from northern Afghanistan, woven almost entirely by women passing the craft from mother to daughter across generations. The patterns carried in these kilims are a visual language handed down within families and every weaver brings her own interpretation to it.
This kilim is handwoven from Ghazni wool, from the Ghazni sheep of Afghanistan, widely regarded as some of the finest carpet wool in the world. It holds dye exceptionally well, which is why the colours in a Faryab kilim stay rich and true over decades of use. The weave is tighter and finer than a standard Afghan kilim, which gives the geometric tribal patterns a greater level of detail and the surface a more refined finish. It is a flatweave with no pile, constructed entirely from wool and fully reversible.
When one side shows wear, you flip it. A rug that effectively has two lives.

Good to know
What does pre-order mean?
This rug is freshly woven and on its way to us. You can buy it outright now and we'll send it straight to you, or reserve it with a 50% deposit and receive it once it arrives in Australia.
How does the deposit work?
Pay 50% at checkout to hold the rug in your name. When it arrives in Australia we'll invoice the balance, and once that's paid we deliver it free, anywhere in Australia.
When will it arrive?
Buy now and it usually arrives in around 2 to 3 weeks. Reserved pieces arrive with our next delivery, shown above the buy options. We'll keep you updated at every stage and send tracking as soon as it's on its way to you.
Will the rug look the same in person as it does online?
We photograph every rug in natural light with minimal editing, so the colours you see are as true to life as possible. It’s something we take a lot of care with, and something our customers often comment on.
That said, colours can shift slightly depending on your screen or the lighting in your home. If you’d like extra photos or a video before purchasing, we’re always happy to help.
Can I see it in person first?
Not until it lands with us, but we're happy to send more photos or a video in daylight so you can see the colours and pile up close. Leave your email above and we'll tell you as soon as it arrives at our Rowville warehouse.
