About the underlay
Keeps your rug flat, safe and in place
A rug is woven to last generations. The least we can do is give it good ground to stand on.
Our non-slip underlay is the quiet layer nobody notices, doing all the work. It stops the slipping and the curled edges, softens every step and protects the backing from the friction that wears fibres thin over time. Safe on timber, polished concrete, tile and stone.
Pre-cut to size. Lay it down and let it disappear.

Do I really need an underlay?
If your rug sits on a hard floor, yes. Without one, rugs shift underfoot, edges curl and the back wears faster against the floor. Kilims and flatweaves especially need one, as they have no pile to create natural grip.
What size underlay do I need?
Choose the size closest to your rug. Ideally the underlay sits 2 to 3 cm in from each edge so it stays hidden, so if yours is slightly bigger, simply trim it with scissors. When you add a rug to your cart we'll suggest the closest size for you.
What floors does it work on?
Timber, tiles, stone, polished concrete, laminate and hybrid flooring. We don't recommend it on heated floors.
Will it damage my floors?
No. The rubber is non-staining and safe for hard floors. If you have vinyl flooring, check with your floor manufacturer first, as some rubber products can react with vinyl coatings.
Can I cut it to size?
Yes. It trims easily with household scissors to any size or shape.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery times depend on your location.
For most Australian orders, delivery is quite quick. NSW and VIC typically arrive within 1–2 business days, the ACT within 2–3 business days, QLD and TAS within 2–4 business days, and WA and the NT within 3–6 business days.
Most international deliveries arrive within 1–4 weeks.
