One of a kind

Karabagh rugs are the romantics of Caucasian weaving. Strong village geometry often shares the field with vines, flowers or garden-like pattern, creating a vintage rug that feels both structured and unexpectedly lyrical.

Vintage Caucasian Karabagh Rug

About This Rug

Knotted by Hand in Caucasus Region

Karabagh rugs come from the southern Caucasus, where village geometry and Persian floral influence have long shared the same loom. This gives the tradition a wider visual range than many neighbouring Caucasian groups.

Some Karabagh rugs are organised around bold medallions and angular forms. Others use trailing flowers, lattices or long garden-like compositions, particularly in elongated formats. Even when the drawing becomes more fluid, the border remains important, holding the field with the firm structure associated with Caucasian weaving.

That tension is what makes a Karabagh so compelling. It can feel robust and romantic at the same time, with the vintage surface allowing the larger pattern and the smaller, less expected details to settle into one composition.

Najaf Rugs

Good to Know

Will the rug look the same in person as it does online?

We photograph every rug in natural light with minimal editing, so the colours you see are as true to life as possible. It’s something we take a lot of care with, and something our customers often comment on.

That said, colours can shift slightly depending on your screen or the lighting in your home. If you’d like extra photos or a video before purchasing, we’re always happy to help.

How long does delivery usually take?

Delivery times depend on your location.

For most Australian orders, delivery is quite quick. NSW and VIC typically arrive within 1–2 business days, the ACT within 2–3 business days, QLD and TAS within 2–4 business days, and WA and the NT within 3–6 business days.

Most international deliveries arrive within 1–4 weeks.

You can find more detailed timeframes on our Shipping & Delivery page: Shipping & Delivery.

What if the rug isn't quite right?

We want you to feel completely confident in your purchase. If something doesn’t feel right once you’ve seen it in your space, we’re here to help.

We accept returns or exchanges on full-priced items, meaning pieces that are not part of our clearance collection.

Returns must be initiated within 7 days of receiving your order, or within 7 days of purchase if bought in person.

As each rug is handmade and one of a kind, we keep this window short so that any returned piece can be offered again in the same condition.

Rugs must be returned in the same condition they were received.

For full details, please see our Returns & Exchanges page: Returns & Exchanges.

Can I see this rug in person before I decide?

Of course. We're at our Rowville warehouse most days and you're welcome to come in and browse.

Give us a call before you head over and we'll have this rug, and anything else you'd like to compare, laid out and ready for you.

Do I need an underlay?

We recommend one under every rug and kilim. A good underlay stops the rug moving, protects your floors and helps the rug wear evenly for longer.

Ask us and we'll suggest the right one for your floor and rug size.

How do I look after it?

Handmade wool rugs are easy to live with. Vacuum weekly on a low setting, moving with the pile and without the beater bar, and never vacuum the fringes. Rotate the rug every few months so it wears evenly, and blot spills straight away rather than rubbing.

Our Rug Care guide covers the rest.
