About this piece
Made by Hand in Uzbekistan
A vintage Uzbek Suzani hand-embroidered from silk thread on a cotton foundation, worked stitch by stitch as part of the Central Asian dowry tradition, where a bride's family would embroider textiles to be presented at a wedding. Each motif carries symbolic meaning: pomegranates for fertility and abundance, sunbursts for protection and light, vines for growth and continuity. The silk embroidery gives the surface a shimmering quality that cotton thread cannot achieve, the thread catches light differently at every angle, giving the dense embroidered motifs a depth and luminosity that only natural silk produces.

Good to know
Will it look the same in person as it does online?
We photograph every piece in natural light with minimal editing, so the colours you see are as true to life as possible. It’s something we take a lot of care with, and something our customers often comment on.
That said, colours can shift slightly depending on your screen or the lighting in your home. If you’d like extra photos or a video before purchasing, we’re always happy to help.
How do I care for it?
Keep it out of strong direct sun, which can fade natural dyes over time. Shake out or gently vacuum on a low setting, spot clean spills with a damp cloth straight away, and for anything more, take it to a specialist textile cleaner. If you're hanging it, a rod sleeve stitched along the top spreads the weight evenly.
How long does delivery usually take?
Delivery times depend on your location.
For most Australian orders, delivery is quite quick. NSW and VIC typically arrive within 1–2 business days, the ACT within 2–3 business days, QLD and TAS within 2–4 business days, and WA and the NT within 3–6 business days.
Most international deliveries arrive within 1–4 weeks.
You can find more detailed timeframes on our Shipping & Delivery page: Shipping & Delivery.
Can I see it in person before I decide?
Of course. We're at our Rowville warehouse most days and you're welcome to come in and browse.
Give us a call before you head over and we'll have this piece, and anything else you'd like to compare, laid out and ready for you.
