About This Rug
Knotted by Hand in Iran
This textile is reconstructed by hand from vintage Persian silk fragments, pieces of hand-knotted and handwoven silk textiles that were cut from larger works and reassembled into a single new composition. Each fragment carries its own weaving history: its own knot structure, its own dye palette, its own pattern.
When brought together, they create a surface that is richer and more complex than any single textile could be, a collage of Persian craft tradition rather than a single statement. Patchwork textiles of this kind occupy a unique position. They are not reproductions, not pastiches and not entirely conventional rugs.
They are genuinely new objects made from genuinely old material and the result has a luminosity and visual complexity that only silk and age together produce. The silk fragments that make up this piece were sourced from vintage Persian textiles, woven at different times, in different places, by different hands and assembled by skilled craftspeople into a coherent composition.

Will the rug look the same in person as it does online?
We photograph every rug in natural light with minimal editing, so the colours you see are as true to life as possible. It’s something we take a lot of care with, and something our customers often comment on.
That said, colours can shift slightly depending on your screen or the lighting in your home. If you’d like extra photos or a video before purchasing, we’re always happy to help.
How long does delivery usually take?
Delivery times depend on your location.
For most Australian orders, delivery is quite quick. NSW and VIC typically arrive within 1–2 business days, the ACT within 2–3 business days, QLD and TAS within 2–4 business days, and WA and the NT within 3–6 business days.
Most international deliveries arrive within 1–4 weeks.

What if the rug isn't quite right?
We want you to feel completely confident in your purchase. If something doesn’t feel right once you’ve seen it in your space, we’re here to help.
We accept returns or exchanges on full-priced items, meaning pieces that are not part of our clearance collection.
Returns must be initiated within 7 days of receiving your order, or within 7 days of purchase if bought in person.
As each rug is handmade and one of a kind, we keep this window short so that any returned piece can be offered again in the same condition.
Rugs must be returned in the same condition they were received.

Can I see this rug in person before I decide?
Of course. We're at our Rowville warehouse most days and you're welcome to come in and browse.
Give us a call before you head over and we'll have this rug, and anything else you'd like to compare, laid out and ready for you.
Do I need an underlay?
We recommend one under every rug and kilim. A good underlay stops the rug moving, protects your floors and helps the rug wear evenly for longer.
Ask us and we'll suggest the right one for your floor and rug size.
How do I look after it?
Handmade wool rugs are easy to live with. Vacuum weekly on a low setting, moving with the pile and without the beater bar, and never vacuum the fringes. Rotate the rug every few months so it wears evenly, and blot spills straight away rather than rubbing.
